Obituary of Louise Pearl Wright

Louise Pearl Wright, age 81, passed away peacefully March 18, 2020. She was born shortly after her twin brother Louis on May 19, 1938 in Jamaica, Queens to Carl and Virginia Miner. As a child her family relocated to Brooklyn, NY were she was educated in the New York City public school system and graduated from Prospect Heights High School. Louise, affectionately called “Weezy”, married her longtime friend and the love of her life, Ralph Wright on July 7, 1957. Ralph preceded her in death in 1988. Weezy never remarried, vowing that “Ralph Wright was the only man for me.” Alongside her husband, Weezy was a proprietor of Buy-Wright Bedding on Sutter Avenue in East New York, Brooklyn. Buy-Wright Bedding serviced New York City’s five boroughs and Long Island with mattresses and box-springs from 1972 through 1990. Buy-Wright Bedding was a staple of the community; showing people of color that success was possible. Weezy had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. She loved playing bingo, cards and entertaining herself with scratch-offs. She made friends everywhere she went. Weezy was a dedicated wife of the late Ralph Wright Sr. Much loved mother of Ralph Wright Jr., Deborah Bradley (Wayne Sr.) and the late Raymond Wright. Cherished grandmother of Wayne (Lashondra) and Steven. Doting great-grandmother of Nia, Nisha, Wayne III, Jason, Xavier, Jasiah, Jasir, Steven Jr., Alicia, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Weezy is predeceased by her parents Carl Miner (1991) and Virginia Fowler-Miner (1984); her siblings, Glornetta “Cobie” Francis (2002), Mary “Fatty” Vann (2007), Margaret “Margie” Middleton (2009), Carl “Carlie” Miner (2012), Louis Miner (2000), Russell Miner (2018) and Albert “Albee” Miner (1996). Weezy treasured her family and embraced every moment with us all. A memorial gathering celebrating the life of Louise Pearl “Weezy” Wright will be held at a later date.
