Obituary of Lanny R. Milkins
Lanny "Rudy" Milkins, 79, of Lemont Avenue passed away peacefully on Wednesday Nov. 1, 2023 at his home. He was born on Jan. 14, 1944 in Schenectady and was the son of the late Morton L. and Ann Mary Mach Milkins. Lanny was raised in Round Lake and was a member of the Saratoga Bridges Community. He had worked at the Alpha Industries Sheltered Workshop in Malta for many years and then attended the Saratoga Bridges Wilton Day Habilitation Program. He was a strong faith- filled Catholic. He had been a communicant of Corpus Christi Church in Ushers for many years. In addition to his parents, Lanny was pre-deceased by his sister, Donna M. Milkins. He is survived by his family at Saratoga Bridges and several cousins.
Lanny enjoyed participating in Special Olympics, listening to music on his old-time boom box and holiday parties. He loved the Beatles, anything chocolate and always had to have his coffee. He fancied himself a photographer and loved taking pictures of his friends (often multiple copies), having them developed and then framing them. His photograph collection reached massive proportions over the years. He was a snappy dresser and always looked forward to attending dances and special events such as the yearly Harvest Ball. He was thrilled with the opportunity to see the ocean for the first time in September of this year. His smile lit up a room. He will be deeply missed by his Saratoga Bridges family whom he was a part of for over 35 years.
Funeral will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am in the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9 Clifton Park, NY 12065. A calling hour will precede the funeral service from 10-11 am in the funeral home.
Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie.
Memorial contributions may be made to Saratoga Bridges, 16 Saratoga Bridges Blvd. Ballston Spa, NY 12020.
